About the event
Hello! You have found your way to this stage of signing on to a Waiata Workshop - we see your courage and curiosity. And, we wonder how much of this pre-journey has occurred because a part of your spirit is calling for you to know yourself deeper, now, to know how you can live your life more in tune with YOU - who you are now. This is your inner wisdom calling to you, and she is singing her own Waitata. No one else can tell you what this song is. Your Waiata is specific to you - a kind-of compass, that allows you to find your own true north and understand what your inner wisdom is calling you to in a larger context of the world you live in. To know your own Waiata offers a way of silencing the noise of the world, stilling the storm of contemporary life - in that pause you can locate your center, and proceed with life in right relationship with self and those to whom you are in relationship with.
The purpose of these workshops is to provide skills, knowledge and practices so that you can re-member your own Waiata and build a relationship with your own body-mind-spirit /your own inner wisdom. And to offer it in a way that is playful, easy, safe, and as fun as possible.
It is nearly impossible to locate the words to explain the scope of what these workshops offer, primarily because each person comes with their own questions and desires, fears and histories, and therefore has their own unique journey. Some will experience the invitation into healing, some will be expanding their emotional lexicon, and some will be learning to be with the sensations of their body.
All of us will be invited to paint in color to bring your inner experiences of emotions, sensations, histories, and nervous system state into an external form of rhythmic motion and color, symbols and shapes - once externalized onto the canvas you can witness emergent patterns in the swirls and spaces. In this way, the canvas can reveal what we call the Waiata of your own body-mind-spirit. Primary colors and symbolic shapes, like the base notes of a song, form the structure into which our unique tempos, crescendo's, and melodies emerge in all the colors of your unique rainbow of inner knowledge/wisdom.
You do not need to know how to do any of this - it is Emma's role to offer specific prompts and inquiries at each step. You will be invited to feel the sensations and emotions of your body (no words or sharing is required) and then approximate these into movements with a brush and color on the canvas. What comes is not 'planned' but intuitively emerges in response to prompts. Skilled and practiced artists and novices alike often experience a reconnection with their core creativity and joie de vivre. The final composition on the canvas reflects and represents your journey into your inner wisdom, and ultimately points to your personal waiata - the compass that helps you tune out the noisey world and attune into what your inner wisdom whispers to you.
This Waiata workshop is but one way, a beautiful and easeful way, of self-revealing answers to your own questions.
