WHAT: These sessions are for individuals and small groups seeking immediate stress-relief and opportunities to de-condition to rewire your body & mind. We can provide frameworks & tools for re-calibration and attunement to your nervous system and body. Attending to stories hidden in the languages of your body: emotions, sensations, habitual behaviors (motor patterns), and physiological states. Your body has its own particular language, compass, and rhythms. Through these sessions, what YOU need and want to feel connected & alive, nourished & resourced will emerge.

HOW: We integrate whole-body trauma-informed approaches with somatic & art therapies, somatosensory & decolonized psychotherapy, accompanied by education of social fabric & physiology involved - if you so desire.
METHODS: We offer our own unique combination of modalities and tools.
BIG WHY: The state of our body determines what we sense in our world, how we perceive the world, how we digest information and make decisions, and therefore how we relate to ourselves and the people in our lives. The body state is informed by physiology, emotional patterns, experiences, cultural influences, memories and habits of mind and body.
We do have some choice in determining our own body state and
we can develop practices that facilitate state change.
Our body is the way.
Neuroscience shows that we cannot effectively change our body state by mind-control or even committed enforced determination - instead methods that invite us to tune into our body are the way into inviting state change. Allowing your creative body and mind to explore your own way to settle your nervous system, tend unresolved experiences, recover from covid-isolation, come to terms with personal and institutional betrayal, and honoring your resilience which has allowed you to hold your home together.
Answers to some frequent Questions:
ONE vs MANY SESSIONS: One private session would typically support immediate stress relief and help you settle so that you can be more present to your life and situation. Several sessions can help you locate your own toolkit for you to manage your own body state and habits of mind - opening up your world and relationships. Over the course of several sessions you can get long term relief from accumulated stress (allostatic load), facilitating a more permanent settled and relaxed way of being; becoming better equipped to handle challenges in your life. We can offer practices for long-term relief of allostatic load (def': multiple stressors and unresolved experiences added up). Offering pathways towards repair and Nervous System settling in addition to practices that facilitate re-wiring and re-storying your body and life.
APPROACHES: We employ a variety of approaches to assist in repairing sensorimotor functions hijacked by unresolved stress of life and oppressive systems & structures. Certified in somatic and art therapy approaches - The Resilience Toolkit®, Guided Drawing, and Intentional Creativity® - we can offer unique creative ways to reacquaint yourself with your fully SENSE8 body, tune in and know what and where (and even when) repair is needed, and we can offer multiple ways for you to trial tools and apply. This work is consistent with ancient technologies of indigenous and traditional medicines and is supported by scientific scholarship across a number of domains - psychology, physiology, neuroscience, biophysics, sociology, biochemistry, and ecology.
Our process is one of restoration and ultimately liberation for two main reasons. One is because, in order for us to attend to our life dreams, relationships and our community, and to contribute to changing the inequities in our social systems, we need to attend to our own first. The Second, the social systems we are steeped in encode our sensorimotor systems and configure the messages of our inner critic. To break free, truly free, is to be liberated from the oppressive encodings and configurations that unconsciously bind us to the structures and social rules we seek to change.
